Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs Essay Example for Free
Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs Essay A good sales-person is one who possesses personality traits that is in their innate nature to interact with others. These are often difficult to teach but can be developed with time, depending upon the individualââ¬â¢s motivation to excel in their field of work. This forms the intrinsic motivation. However, the motivational tendencies of an individual sales-person alone are insufficient as it is also dependent upon extrinsic motivational factors. (Luke Ali 2011). It is a force that can spur or discourage an individual from achieving the fullest potential in any field. It can take the form of monetary or non-monetary benefits, which encompasses the extrinsic motivation of the sales-person (Luke Ali 2011). Knowing the fact that monetary incentives have been deeply entrenched as the basic method of reward for employees; it must not be assumed that relying on this method solely will be effective. Companies have to consider immaterial benefits to motivate its staffs. What is motivation? Motivation is to initiate action on a certain task. It is to expand a certain amount of effort on that particular task and to persist in expanding effort over a period of time. Therefore motivation is a driving force that pushes people to work, put in effort in their work and working harder than the rest. How to motivate your sales force to have great performance? Itââ¬â¢s not just about the paycheck. Effective incentive compensation management is based on an understanding of basic human motivationââ¬âon the importance of trust, self-esteem, social recognition and improved chances to fulfill oneââ¬â¢s potential (Bakosh 2007, 3). Leadership Many people assume salespeople are motivated by money, and while this is largely true, its absurd to think they are motivated only by money. Salespeople are still human and while commission bonuses and sales spiffs will probably remain an important part of most sales compensation plans, studies consistently show that financial incentives never have the same lasting impact as an employee who is passionate about his work and it is a simply not possible to be passionate about something that you think is inferior. Besides instilling natural passion into your sales team, a salesperson who truly believes in his product or service is far more likely to sell with integrity. Good teamwork is crucial to job satisfaction because it gives employees a sense of accomplishment when the objective is attained. Inspirational sales leaders are well aware that different individuals have different motivations and needs, and they vary their own style accordingly. An especially effective leader with consciously assesses each sales representativeââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"ideal level of energyâ⬠, and creates productive ââ¬Å"stretchâ⬠for each person according to the level of tension at which each performs at his or her personal best. He inspires some representatives mostly through positive reinforcementââ¬âââ¬Å"you can do it, youââ¬â¢re the bestâ⬠ââ¬âand others mostly through constructive criticism, each according to their individual profit le and preference. Compensation Plans A well-designed compensation plan is crucial for the success of a company, and must not be overlooked. It has the ability to motivate or de-motivate an employee. In truth, it is valid to imply that, in this context, an effective plan can inspire the sales-person to generate more revenue for the success of a sales company .Hence, when designing the plan it involves the consideration of multi-factorial elements (Growth Process Group 2011). Every step has a purpose and needs to be taken into account. The sales behaviour goals are often misinterpreted by organisations, hence resulting in the failure to motivate their employees. Lastly, the design guidelines encompass the classification of the job and its entitled incentives (Growth Process Group 2011). Compensation Plans â⬠¢Salaries are fixed amounts per month or year for performing a role. â⬠¢Commission is a payment based on the value of sales achieved. This constantly motivates the sales-person especially since his income is strictly dependent on his sales. â⬠¢Salary-plus-commission plans offer an incentive above a basic salary that provides a high-degree of flexibility securing salary and profits but also surpass oneââ¬â¢s performance (Tokarev Sergey 2010). â⬠¢Bonuses is based on oneââ¬â¢s achievement and not working hard alone. It is the results that matters and bonuses should not be restricted to keep employees from producing results. (Lee Ann Obringer 2011) â⬠¢Long-term incentive plans like profit-sharing plan reward employee for their performance over a continued period of time. This helps retain, motivates employees and even improve their commitment. Maslowââ¬â¢s hierarchy needs Maslowââ¬â¢s Hierarchy of Needs is a motivational theory that illustrates that lower-needs need to first be satisfied before higher-needs can be pursued in a hierarchal sequence. Therefore, after a need is satisfied, it will cease to motivate an individual who will inevitably seek for the next higher-need. Each level requires different actions to meet these needs in order to effectively motivate. In relation to the compensation plans above, monetary benefits may only fulfil the lower needs for an individual. Ultimately, when these needs are achieved, itââ¬â¢s effectiveness in motivating individuals will gradually dwindle. Non-monetary benefits will then be necessary to satisfy the individualââ¬â¢s higher needs, in accordance to Maslowââ¬â¢s hierarchical system. Only through this, can companies sustain long-term motivational effects for its employees. In relation to the compensation plans above, monetary benefits may only fulfil in the lower needs for an individual temporarily. Ultimately, when these needs are achieved, non-monetary benefits will take precedence to satisfy the individualââ¬â¢s higher needs, in accordance to Maslowââ¬â¢s hierarchical system. Only through this, can it sustain long-term motivation effects. Yet, it is necessary to be weary that while Maslowââ¬â¢s theory has helped in the understanding of the application of compensation plans, applying this concept workplace can be tacky as different employees can be driven by different needs. Furthermore, there are insufficient evidences to substantiate the support of the hierarchy theory because its relevance to one job might not apply likewise to another (NetMBA 2010). A sales force specific hierarchy of motivational factors- Maslow hierarchy of motivation. By understanding how an integrated and holistic approach to motivation works the importance of trust, of self-esteem, of social recognition, of improved chances to fulfill oneââ¬â¢s potentialââ¬âtraditional incentive compensation management strategies can be rethought and implemented in ways that improve the performance of the sales force and help the entire company achieve high performance (Bakosh 2007, 3).

America Needs Tort Reform Essays -- How to Fix the Tort System
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, ââ¬Å"The tort system is truly broken and in bad need of repair.â⬠Tort cases are becoming an extremely common fight in the nationââ¬â¢s legal system. Since 1986, 38 of the 50 United States have adopted some sort of tort reform. However, with the many flaws of the tort system today, the suffering American economy will continue to fall behind if the American public does not insist on fighting for justice in the legal system. The governing bodies of these states must continue to seek reform and propose strategies to fix the corruption in the tort system. The legal system set up by the founding fathers will experience corruption in the negligence of these governing bodies. Tort law is a branch of civil law that establishes rights to a person when a damaging act is done to either a person or oneââ¬â¢s property. Crimes involving tort occur when negligence or intentional civil wrong is done and it does not arise out of a contract or statute. A tort is an act that injures a person mentally, physically, emotionally, or any other way. Acts of tort also include damage to ones property or reputation. Crimes of tort typically seek compensation which usually results in a dollar amount to cover the cost of the damage. Through the tort system, victims seek reimbursement for a wrongdoing done against them, holding the person legally responsible and hoping to prevent the wrong from again occurring. However, because compensation is involved in cases of tort, the system has begun to become more corrupt and the legal system is beginning to experience abuse. Victims are mistreating the legal system and seeking unreasonable reimbursements to cover their injuries. The people United ... ...e/161666/>. "Medical Liability Crisis Fact Sheet." All the World by William Shakespeare Essay
William Shakespeare has been considered the greatest poet of all times. Only school educated, this great poet acquired fame because he had an extraordinary power of observation which he tempered with his brilliant imagination that gave a creative boost to his art. He was also gifted with unique taste of music which helped him to compose beautiful songs and sonnets. His imagination and observation along with a keen ear towards tone and rhythm rendered a sonorous and lyrical quality to his verses- something which was missing in other poets of his times. Shakespeare wrote several comedies, tragedies and poems depicting his profound wisdom and psychological understanding of human nature. The poem ââ¬ËAll Worldââ¬â¢s a Stageââ¬â¢ is typical example of Shakespearean genius as he metaphorically compares the world to a stage where every human makes an entry like a stage actor, plays different roles and, when time declares, leaves the stage eventually. The poem is beautiful example of his vision of life. The first stage of life is infancy. The poet here describes a baby crying and throwing out in the motherââ¬â¢s arm calling for attention. In the second stage of life, the baby is now a school-going child who is unhappy and complaining as is unwilling to go to school but is forced to do so. The third stage in life is that of a lover. Young man in this age is full of deep sighs missing his beloved. He is preoccupied with her thoughts so much so that he sits writing long poems in praise of her beauty. The fourth stage in his life is that of a sincere and ambitious career-oriented professional. A this age he is competitive, jealous for opportunities, desires recognition even if it involves risk or great danger. Next comes the middle-aged man, well-fed, highly experienced and full of wisdom. He has great sayings ready for every occasion and a remedy for every problem. The sixth stage is that of a retired old man. He is thin and dressed comfortably, wearing specs and a small purse with him. He is wearing a hose of his youthful times which he has saved till now which helps him in walking. He is grouchy, complaining like a child carrying a pipe in mouth The last stage of life is when man has grown, weak, feeble and lacks strength and vitality. His life is at an end and he has nothing to look forward to. All he has before him is a memory of good old days. He sits reminiscing those times without teeth, eye-sight, taste and everything (hopes, desires, aspirations, etc), patiently waiting for his death.

Efficiency Is Doing Better What Is Already Being Done
Efficiency is doing better what is already being done. -Peter R. Drucker Climate change has become an evident issue in the world. As the facts evolve, it is truly apparent that the human footprint is drastically changing our climate and leading to the ultimate degradation of the planet. As the concepts of climate change develop, so do the strategies toward developing ââ¬Å"greenerâ⬠technologies. One of many ââ¬Å"greenâ⬠developments is sustainable building design. In this context sustainability ââ¬Å"refers to both a structure and the using of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a buildingââ¬â¢s lifecycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolitionâ⬠(Wikipedia, n.d.). One key component of building sustainability is implementing energy efficiencies within the design and structural components of a building. The following text will examine energy saving sources as well as design processes for a more energy efficient structure. First, defining green building must be understood before determining what constitutes as green and what does not. Green buildingââ¬â¢s goals include minimizing environmental impacts of the costs incurred by living in a structure. Saving water, energy and reducing pollution are top rankers. Also, considerations of the consequences of building materials must be analyzed to determine if the energy saving is full circle; a product must not only save energy once installed but theShow MoreRelatedWhat Is Valuating The Unusual?993 Words à |à 4 Pagesat the table. Effective Communication Between Nurses And Nurses
This paper will examine effective communication between the doctor and nurse working together to provide high quality, safe care. Nurses use a wide range of effective communication strategies and interpersonal skills to appropriately establish, maintain, re-establish and terminate the nurse-client relationship (College of Nurses of Ontario [CNO], 2009). While nurses and physicians are key members of the health care team facilitate quality care, many studies show breakdown in nurse-physician communication remains concern. The Civil Rights Movement - 1286 Words
The Civil Rights movement is one of the most important acts to change the way not only African Americans were able to live their lives but all races and colors. It would slowly break down the social, economic, political, and racial barriers that were created by the The Age of Discovery and Transatlantic Slave trade. I believe without the Civil Rights acts our country would result to be no better than what it was when the Emancipation Proclamation just took effect. In the 1950s and long before, Southern folk, who were white had created a system that would interpret them as a superior race over blacks. The system would defend whites rights and privileges from being taken away from them while establishing terrible inhumane suffering for African Americans. In the South blacks were controlled in all aspects economic, political, and personal, this was called a ââ¬Å"tripartite system of dominationâ⬠- (Aldon D. Rocket to the Moon Rocket to the Moon
Rocket to the Moon Rocket to the Moon -Romare BeardenRomare Bearden Essay There are many famous paintings in the world today that are created by different artists. Each one of them tells a story or narrative, the paintings are put together in many ways by the color, shape, and style. Most of the paintings even shows symbolism to the meaning of the artwork. The painting I chose was Rocket to the Moon created by Romare Bearden a famous artists in 1971. This painting is different from others, because its a collage of different pictures used to make this painting. Also the painting I chose have many different colors, shapes, different styles and it even show a little symbolism. Rocket to the Moon tells a little story or narrative that shows self-expression. We will write a custom essay on Rocket to the Moon Rocket to the Moon -Romare BeardenRomare Bearden specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now To me the story seems to be about the life and struggle of African Americans in the inner cities. I say this, because of the big buildings, lights, and the images of the black people in the collage. The city the painting seems like its trying to explain, looks like the city of Chicago to me. I say Chicago of many cities, because its known to have many black people struggling there and by the way the city looks with the big buildings. The painting could even be about the roaring 20s of African Americans or in other words the Harlem Renaissance. The roaring 20s is known for rural life and urban life, jazz, African American music, and even paintings. If you look close into the painting you could see some of those things. For example, the big buildings could represent the rural and urban life back then. When you look at this collage you can see the many different shapes, color, and texture of how this picture is put together. The shapes that are used in this painting seems to be positive because it catches your eye to make you be more focus on the shapes used. There are a lot of shapes used because there are a lot of boundaries which are separated from what surrounds the picture. As you look at the collage you can tell it has actual lines. For example it has horizontal, vertical, and even diagonal lines to actually bring the art work out. The colors used are mainly dark dull colors. There are not that many bright colors used besides light blue, thats used in the little caution light in the painting. As you look at the painting you notice it contains many visual tools. As you look at the lines in the collage you could see that some suggest motion. For example the rocket in the picture seems to look like its moving, because of the way the lines are formed. The buildings, the shape of the moon, and the collages of the people can be considered implied lines, because it forms geometric shapes. The mood of the painting is more of a calm and depressed scene. I say this because of the colors that are used in the painting. The color it mainly contains are dark brown, light brown, dark blue, black and some cool colors. The painting also contains a monochromatic color scheme used to make the sky. This is also another thing that could set the mood of the painting. Most monochromatic color scheme are used in paintings to set that certain mood. Another visual tool used in this painting is light. The direction of light can affect the way things can appear in a painting. The cut out images of the African American people and the buildings can be consider chiaroscuro, because the shading is from light to dark. The lighting of the picture makes the shape and color more visible. The design of the painting is sort of a simple design, because its a collage. As you look at the design of a painting, it could consists of the color, direction, point, and even size of the painting. The painting Rocket to the Moon contains all of these types of designs. .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .postImageUrl , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:hover , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:visited , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:active { border:0!important; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:active , .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc33f85caa60ec11a9e43df909d51e51d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Madonna Enthroned painting EssayThe buildings in this painting can be consider a rough texture because of the bricks used to build the building. As you look into the painting you can see the direction of how the collage is going. The painting is slanted towards the right a little. I say this, because as you look at the items in the picture its looks to be slanted. Direction in paintings can also give the paintings a mood. For example, the strong horizontal lines of the buildings give a feeling of stillness and calm. Another example, the diagonal lines of the rocket in the sky reinforce the feeling of movement. As you look and stare at most paintings you notice each one has a little meaning to it. Not only does it have a meaning, but most objects artists paints in a painting symbolizes a certain thing. In Rocket to the Moon it could mean plenty of things to different people. As I take time to look at the painting, different meanings comes to my head about this picture. The first thing I notice is that its a collage of African Americans in a city with a caution light on red. To me this painting means African Americans are struggling in a city with economic problems or is having some kind of problem in the city. This painting contains many objects that could symbolize a certain thing. The rocket in this painting can symbolize African Americans trying escape from there situation in the city. The pictures of the black people can symbolize everyday rituals of African Americans rural life in the south and urban life in the north cities. As I look at the painting I notice one of those people looks like Martin Luther King Jr. this could symbolize the dream of them escaping there problems in the city, because he always had dream things would be better. I chose Rocket to the Moon by Romare Bearden, because the collage of the painting caught my eyes. There is more focus on detail and color on the front portion of the painting rather than the back cityscape. Most paintings I have seen before are not like this one. Also I chose this one, because it really showed how African Americans are struggling in most cities. The colors in this painting really make you pay close attention to what is really going on. I like the way there are geometric shapes in this painting, because you can see the two-dimensions easier. Overall this is a great painting by Romare Bearden. You can tell he reflected his life in this painting of a collage of different things put together.
